Summary

Clary is a fifteen-year-old trying to make sense of a world she doesn't know. When her mom goes missing she becomes determined to enter a new world she doesn't know in order to bring her mom back.

Did you connect with any characters? How was the character development?

I didn't! I was kinda bumped out because I have seen the show and movie before reading this so I expected to like my favorite character in the show but she barely came out at all, Isabelle Lightwood. Simon was the best character in this book for me! He was funny and cute, completely loved the vibe he brought to the book.

What I liked most about the book.

It was adventurous, fun, and cute. There was romance, just enough to make me sad at the end (Even though I already know what happens.), it was still wonderful to experience the world that Cassandra created.

What I disliked about the book.

I disliked that there wasn't much development from Clary as a Shadowhunter. Maybe it would have taken to much time away from the plot, but knowing that she, the protagonist, was being carried throughout the whole book made me pretty sad.

Would I recommend this book?

If you enjoy books about warriors on a quest to rescue someone then this is definitely the book for you! As a first time reader at 24 years old, I wasn't disappointed at all! Let me know in the comments down below which is your favorite Cassandra Clare book!
